Mother Hen (2020)
Growing up, my grandfather always referred to my grandmother, Nana, as "Mother Hen." She is confident, strong, and protects our family from danger. Additionally, nana loves raw onions and good conversation over coffee or tea. I sculpted this ceramic tea pot for her as a thank you for everything she has done for myself and as the matriarch of our family.
Stronger Because She Had to Be (2018)
"Stronger Because She Had to Be" has been an ongoing project throughout my college career. This collection of work symbolizes the growth I made over the last several years. What originally started as a collage made of magazine clippings, later turned into an acrylic painting, which then translated even further. One semester I designed and built a custom frame for the piece during wood shop, the next I added bandaid graphics I created in Adobe Illustrator. During my final year at George Mason I created risograph prints of the newest edition of the painting.
